SMALLEY
GLASS
Hello. I am Ed.
As you can see from the photographic evidence, I possess a head, a moustache, and an apron. These are the three primary components required to run Smalley Glass.
I operate out of a workshop in Derbyshire, where I engage in the centuries-old tradition of cutting perfectly good sheets of glass into smaller, sharper pieces, and then putting them back together again using lead and patience, or sometimes a lot of heat and some crossed fingers.
I specialize in traditional lead came techniques, sgraffito etchings and fusing glass. My work is inspired by the natural world, mainly foxes, birds, and the occasional geometric abstraction. I do not use machines for the creative parts. Every piece is handcrafted, meaning it contains genuine character and, very occasionally, a microscopic piece of my soul (or thumb).
Every purchase you make, allows me to buy better biscuits for the workshop.
